QUETTA: Supply of gas to many parts of Karachi was disrupted on Wednesday after unidentified persons below up two gas pipelines in Dera Bugti district of Balochistan in two different cases.
According to the details, unidentified persons below up a 16 inch diameter gas pipeline at Loti area of Dera Bugti which was connected to well number 2. Explosives had been planted under the gas pipeline that caused damage to the pipeline.
Another 30-inch gas pipeline passing from Sui to supply gas to Karachi was also damaged by unknown attackers. The attack on the pipeline disrupted the supply of gas to several parts of Karachi. Authorities from the gas company had initiated the repair work in order to restore gas to Karachi.
Police in the area said two separate cases had been registered against unknown people who blew up the gas pipeline. No group has accepted responsibility for blowing up the gas pipelines. The violent incidents on Wednesday seemed to be the resumption of a new phase of attacks on national installations by saboteurs after a short period of calmness in Balochistan. In the past, Baloch armed groups had been attacking gas pipelines, railway tracks and different national installations.
