PTA’s Telecom Forum Scheduled In Quetta For July 8th

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is holding a Telecom Consumer Forum with a theme “Together for Consumer Rights” at Quetta on July 8, 2010.

State Minister for Industries and Production Dr Ayat Ullah Durrani and Chairman PTA Dr Mohammed Yaseen will preside over the forum. Representatives from IT & telecom industry, telecom consumer groups, renowned social workers and academia will attend the event.

This forum would help in focusing on recent developments in the telecom sector including protection of consumer rights. The PTA has always been engaged in facilitating telecom consumers with best telecom services along with safeguarding their interests as users of these services.

In this regard, the PTA has promulgated “Telecom Consumer Protection Regulations, 2009” and “Protection from Spam, Unsolicited, Fraudulent and Obnoxious Communication Regulations, 2009” which not only address the telecom consumer issues but also provide guidelines for the telecom operators regarding establishment of comprehensive mechanism for the handling of consumer complaints and to devise effective procedures for their in time redressal.
