QUETTA:  Unidentified assailants gunned down a Superintendent of Police (SP) of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Quetta on Tuesday, morning.

According to police, the SP Shah Nawaz Khan was on his way home after a morning walk when armed men opened indiscriminate fire on him at Satellite Town area. As a result, he received critical wounds and was being moved to hospital when he succumbed to his injuries. “Two assailants who were riding a motorcycle sprayed a volley of bullets on CID officer and fled from the scene,” said a senior police official and adding that the incident seems to be a target killing incident.

Soon after the incident police and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the site and surrounded entire area. “A search operation has been started in the area to trace out the culprits,” he added.

A case has been registered against known assailants in Satellite Town police station. However, no group has claimed responsibility for the killing of SP so far.
